French fries
French fries, or simply fries, chips, finger chips, or French-fried potatoes, are batonnet or allumette-cut deep-fried potatoes. French fries are served hot, either soft or crispy, and are generally eaten as part of lunch or dinner or by themselves as a snack, and they commonly appear on the menus of diners, fast food restaurants, pubs, and bars.

Ingredents
  1. 1 russet potato, cut into evenly sized strips
  2. 1 quart vegetable oil for frying
  3. salt to taste
Recipise
Soak all the potatoes in a large bowl of water for about 25 minutes. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Heat oil in a deep-fryer to 275 degrees F. Gently add the potatoes in the hot oil for about 5 minutes, stirring and flipping the potatoes occasionally. Remove potatoes from oil with a slotted spoon to drain on paper towel and to cool completely. Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 350 degrees F. Fry the potatoes again until golden brown, 5 to 6 minutes. Serve with salt or ketchup.
